Steve McFadden
Plays Phil Mitchell
Steve was born on March 20 1959 and grew up in Maida Vale, London. His mother, Barbara, was a telephonist and his stepdad, John, was a businessman. Barbara split from his biological father, Bob Reid, when Steve was six.
Steve was a tearaway as a young lad but he later applied for university and enrolled on an acting degree at London drama school RADA. Steve's contemporaries at RADA included Hollywood star Ralph Fiennes.
Steve got his first big break in TV drama The Firm alongside Gary Oldman and he went on to win roles in Bergerac, Minder and The Bill before being selected for the part of Phil Mitchell in EastEnders.
Steve has one son, Matthew, born in 1986, with his childhood sweetheart, Sue Marshall. He also has a two daughters, Teona, born in 1997, and Mollie, born in 2004, with former girlfriend Angela Bostock.
He dated former EastEnders co-star Lucy Benjamin, who played Lisa, for several years.
